The Africa Centre for Nature-Based Climate Action (AC4NCA) has welcomed a team from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Ghana, led by National Coordinator Dorcas Owusuaa Agyei, for a strategic meeting aimed at strengthening collaboration on climate advocacy across Africa.

Discussions focused on identifying synergies between the two organizations to advance nature-based solutions (NbS) that address climate change, biodiversity loss, and community resilience. Both parties emphasized the importance of forging partnerships that bridge policy and practice, particularly at a time when African countries are under increasing pressure to meet climate commitments while sustaining livelihoods.

The engagement also formed part of AC4NCA’s preparations for its maiden upcoming Roundtable Policy Dialogue on Nature-Based solutions dubbed Africa Climate Dialogue Series 2025. The dialogue will convene policymakers, experts, and civil society actors to deliberate on policy coherence, financing, and scaling up NbS interventions across Africa.

Executive Secretary of AC4NCA, Mrs. Juliet Osei-Wusu noted that the meeting was timely and strategic. She emphasized that the collaboration with IUCN Ghana presents an opportunity to align expertise and resources to accelerate nature-based solutions across Africa. She added that as the Centre prepares for the Policy Dialogue, it is prioritizing inclusive processes that bring together diverse voices and knowledge systems to shape policies that work for both people and the planet.

Speaking after the meeting, Mrs. Owusuaa Agyei underscored IUCN Ghana’s commitment to working with local and regional actors to mainstream NbS into national development strategies. She noted that partnerships such as the one with AC4NCA are crucial to ensuring that global climate action frameworks translate into meaningful local impacts.
